Cho's Blantyre
School held a fundraising event in the Fairhill
"Lifestyle" community centre on Saturday the
21st of February. The aim of the event was to
raise money to help the supporting students
attend Grandmaster Hee Il Cho's seminar, later
on in the year.
On this
occasion the Blantyre School was joined by eight
students and Instructors visiting Master
Kirkwood, from A.I.M.A.A Ireland. Mr Daniel
Farrell and his students from the DCU A.I.M.A.A
School of Cho's Tae Kwon Do, had arrived in
Scotland to train with Master Kirkwood over the
weekend, and were invited along to the evening
for a fun filled night.
The night was
a combination of Sumo fighting, disco, bar and
lots of fun! The Sumo fights consisted of 15
fighters picked from various adults. Some of the
matches had the audience in stitches with their
antics within the Sumo Fight ring. There
was a spectacular fight between Master Kirkwood
and John Kirkwood Jnr which resulted in John
Kirkwood Jnr winning over his father Master
Kirkwood.
There was
plenty of action, that had the crowd betting
frantically. The Blantyre students and parents raised a
massive £320 pound, which will be distributed
between the students who supported the event.
Master
Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood wish to thank all
those who supported the event by buying tickets
and betting on the fighters, and to those who
donated the gifts for the prizes.
Next Fund
raising event is the "Kickathon" which has been
scheduled for the end of March beginning of
April. All information on this will be given out
in class, along with sponsor sheet.
