GRANDMASTER HEE IL CHO TO VISIT EUROPE IN 2011!

Its Official! Our president and founder, Grandmaster Hee Il Cho will be visiting Europe to undertake seminars in Ireland, Scotland and England. He will also be conducting the International Black Belt testing in Ireland during his time here. 

We will confirm dates, locations and costing of tickets to all students and our martial art friends in the coming months, and look forward to an exciting October next year, when we once again train with the most incredible martial artist on the planet!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW MR & MRS COURTNEY

On Saturday the 21st of August at 1.00am UK time, Miss Quintella Walsh and Mr Jimmy Courtney married in Las Vegas, USA! Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood telephoned Miss Walsh about 2 hrs before the wedding to wish her and Jimmy all the best for their wedding!

Our friends may have been far away, but where in our hearts at this special time!  We know our friends, Mr & Mrs Farrell will be looking after the lovely couple, as they joined them on this special occasion as part of the wedding party!

Everyone at A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ send all their love and best wishes to the newly married couple who are pictured left ! They are a fantastic couple who work hard within the martial arts, especially "Miss Walsh" who is the A.I.M.A.A Ireland National Secretary.

CONGRATULATIONS TO GRANDMASTER PHILLIP AMERIS

It is with deep pride that we announce the promotion of Master Phillip Ameris to the status of "Grandmaster"! On the 11th of July, a day that will go down in history as one as the most historical testing in A.I.M.A.A, Grandmaster Hee Il Cho tested his long standing and trustworthy Senior student at the 30th International Testing in Washington D.C.  History was made, as Grandmaster Ameris is the first Instructor to be promoted to this status within our association!  Grandmaster Ameris recently spoke to Master Kirkwood and has kindly honoured us with a message to all A.I.M.A.A members! CONGRATULATIONS TO MASTER MICHAEL FITZGERALD

On the 11th of July and at the side of Grandmaster Ameris, Mr Michael Fitzgerald undertook the most important testing of his life, and was duly promoted to Master status! Master Fitzgerald is of the old school, a gentleman, scholar, and a true epitome of what a Master is all about! All those who attended camp watched in amazement as he undertook his testing, and although carrying a serious injury surpassed all expectations with his drive, determination and heart to deliver what was truly a wonderful testing to witness! We are very fortunate in A.I.M.A.A to have Masters who are role models to look up to, emulate and learn from.  There is so much to learn in our short life, and what a better way to do so, is from our professors within our art. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO MASTER KIRKWOOD'S STUDENTS

It is with great pride we announce the promotion of four of our students who train at A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ, under the direction of Master John Kirkwood.  For the last few years these students have been training hard, knowing that they would be testing in Washington D.C, under a panel seen like no other! 

The students had the honour to test in front of Grandmaster Hee Il Cho, Grandmaster Phillip Ameris, Grandmaster Connolly, Master John Darcy, Master John Kirkwood and Mr Jeannie Ameris.

A.I.M.A.A IRELAND NATIONAL BLACK BELT TESTING

Master & Mrs Kirkwood had the great pleasure to attend the National Black Belt testing in Limerick last weekend. They joined Master John Darcy and Master Peter Byrne for a weekend of testing's in Limerick. First on the agenda was the colour belt testing for Mr Gleeson's students and Mr Powers. This was followed by the National Testing the following day, where many 1st kup students and Black belts tested! The Black Belt testing was an exceptional event with a high standard of students testing! Many of A.I.M.A.A Ireland Instructors where in attendance to witness this big event. A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND SUCCESS AT THE 2nd GTF LEAGUE

The 2nd GTF Black Belt league took place on Sunday the 20th of June in Glasgow. As invited guest to this usually closed event, our students where once more greeted with great friendship. Master Kirkwood attended the event with some of his National Squad members, most had previously attended the 1st one.  The squad consisted of Mr John Kirkwood, Mr Mark Russell, Mr Scott Ritchie, Mrs Cecilia Gough, Miss Kirsty Gough, Miss Lisa Aitken, Miss Kara Gough, Miss Tammy Sutherland and Miss Rachel Miller. Also in attendance was Mr Karim Belgacem and Mrs Tracey Belgacem who where competing in the event for the 1st time.  The day was fully packed of patterns, cont-sparring and destruction, as well as technical techniques!  A full list of the points gained at the 2nd league will be listed on the A.I.M.A.A Scotland FB site, as soon as we receive these from Mr Cunningham.

During our visit to this fantastic event Master Kirkwood presented Mr Alan Cunningham a book by Grandmaster Cho, who had personally signed and messaged it to the Instructor, for this friendship to A.I.M.A.A and to that of Master Kirkwood.  Both associations have forged a strong bond, that continues to grow, and one that has brought many friendships between our students. A.I.M.A.A SOUTH WALES LAUNCHES IN AUGUST 2010!

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the "Action International Martial Arts Association", UK has a new charter member in South Wales.  Mr. Patrick Baker Jones, a 4th Degree Black belt has joined the AI.M.A.A family and Launches the new "Shirenewton School of Cho's TKD" in August 2010.  Mr Jones looks forward to a new exciting Tae Kwon Do journey within the A.I.M.A.A Worldwide family, and looks forward to meeting everyone during the year.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish Mr Jones every success with his new A.I.M.A.A school. Master Kirkwood looks forward to working and supporting him and the students within South Wales during the coming year.  We will keep everyone posted of this new exciting A.I.M.A.A school!

MASTER KIRKWOOD VISITS A.I.M.A.A HUDDERSFIELD

Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood recently returned from a wonderful weekend in Huddersfield, which was full of training, fun and laughter with A.I.M.A.A Head Instructor Mr Miah and his Black Belt Instructors and students. Master Kirkwood was honoured to undertake 2 days of some serious training with this thriving group in the heart of Yorkshire! A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND SQUAD WIN IN IRELAND!

Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood recently returned with the National Squad members from Dublin, after a hectic weekend of competitions, that ran back to back! The squad did an outstanding job at both the TAI International Taekwondo Championships and the A.I.M.A.A Traditional Championships in Ireland.  A total of 27 medals was won by the squad, with 14 of these being National and International titles! Squad member Mr Mark Russell was voted fighter of the weekend by many including Master Kirkwood and Master Darcy, when he won his bout in the International Team challenge and took A.I.M.A.A into the finals against the TAGB.

A.I.M.A.A EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT

Master John Kirkwood hosted the first A.I.M.A.A European Championships on Sunday the 2nd of May in Scotland. This event had over 500 in attendance and was one of the largest held by our association in Scotland. This European event brought together competitors from Scotland, Ireland, Jersey, England, Wales, Poland, Madeira, as well as other nationalities. The day was full of non stop action from Black Belts to colour belts who competed in sparring, patterns, team patterns and one-step! A.I.M.A.A STUDENTS WIN 20 EUROPEAN TITLES!

Master Kirkwood's National Squad members and students from Mr John Kirkwood's school in Lesmahagow recently became European Champions at the recent championships, held in Scotland.  Master Kirkwood and Mr John Kirkwood are immensely proud of these students who took part, as some where competing for the first time!

Master Kirkwood students won an amazing 17 European Gold's, 22 Silver and 12 Bronze, which is an astonishing accomplishment for the squad! Mr John Kirkwood's students won an impressive 3 European Titles and 5 Silver in the championships! Both Instructors would like to commend everyone who took part from their schools, especially those who missed out on a placing, as you are all winners in the eyes of your Instructors!

A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND MAY TESTING RESULTS !!

The 2nd A.I.M.A.A Scotland colour belt testing of 2010, took place in A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ, Blantyre. High grade students of Blue belt upwards tested in front of Master Kirkwood on Saturday the 15th of May, whilst the low grades from white to green belt tested on Sunday the 16th of May.

This testing saw Mr David McCaig and Mrs Lynne Slade join Master Kirkwood to gain experience as panel members. It was highly enjoyable day for both Black Belts on the panel. H.M.A CHO'S TKD NEW WEBSITE!

A.I.M.A.A Ireland Instructor, Mr Paul Healy has launched his new website this week! the website not only covers his Taekwondo schools in Ireland, but his open gym classes, private tuition and more! Mr Healy also owns "leinster Nutrition" and "Irish Ninja Camps". These two businesses are growing from strength to strength within Ireland and are also featured within the site.  As a fully qualified personal trainer and fitness Instructor Mr Healy offers much more in his schools, than that of the normal traditional classes Taekwondo classes.

A.I.M.A.A Scotland wish Mr Healy every success with his new site, and during the coming months he has assured us that there will be additional information and video added!

MONIKA WINS AT THE "BATTLE OF JERSEY" 2010 !!

Mr. Robbie Fernandes and Mr. Jimmy Courtney recently hosted the first full contact fight night on the Island of Jersey! The 1st Battle of Jersey saw many excellent fighters come together under one roof for the very first time! There were fighters from A.I.M.A.A Jersey and A.I.M.A.A Ireland, not to mention Mr Courtney's Kick boxers from Ireland! and top fighters from the top gyms in Jersey and beyond! However, one of the main event fighters was Miss Monika Markowska, who came up against a fantastic opponent from Poland! Miss Markowska impressed many with her skills and won the fight by points. A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND ATTEND GTF BLACK BELT LEAGUE

Master Kirkwood and high ranking students where guests of the GTF at their recent Black Belt league, in Dundee. The small group of students had a wonderful time at the event and forged many new friendships within Taekwondo.  Master Kirkwood was overwhelmed by the presentation made to him by the association president Mr Allan Cunningham and his wife Mrs Shirley Cunningham on behalf of the GTF. A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND STUDENT AWARDS 2009

 

Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood held their annual award ceremony on Saturday the 27th of February 2009. This event is to honour those students and Instructors who have excelled in 2009 within the association. A.I.M.A.A European Director, Master John Darcy flew in to attend the event, accompanied by Mr Gerry Long and Mr Healy. A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010

Master Kirkwood held the 1st A.I.M.A.A Scotland Interclub Championships, on the 14th of March, 2010. This is an annual event within the association calendar and brings together all the A.I.M.A.A Scotland clubs together. The highlight with the event was undoubtedly the "A.I.M.A.A Panthers", which saw over twenty little 3 to 4 yr olds undertake patterns and sparring, much to the delight of those watching. 150 people attended this event and for a full report, photo gallery and winners listing please Click Here..

AIMAA JERSEY INSTRUCTOR - MONIKA MARKOWSKA

 

A.I.M.A.A Scotland and Jersey recently attended the "Irish Open". Miss Monika Markowska battled through the full contact quarter finals, semi finals and then the final to win Silver, as well as compete in the light contact sparring division. Master Kirkwood and Tammy Sutherland also took part in this amazing event for the fist time, and although not placed, had a great time.  Also in attendance was Mr Robert Fernandes, who it the head of AIMAA Jersey, as well as Mrs Kirkwood and Mrs Sutherland, who were there to support those taking part. Over two days over 2,400 competitors fought and competed, and had gathered from over 35 countries to make this a truly remarkable event. NEW PANTHER SCHOOL ! - EAST KILBRIDE

A.I.M.A.A Panther Instructor, Mrs Cecilia Gough, opens her new A.I.M.A.A Panthers class on Friday the 26th of March in the Alistair McCoist Sports Complex, East Kilbride! 

This new A.I.M.A.A School will be open to 3-5yr olds and is a fun and active class for all pre-school children.

A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND WIN AT THE WKA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Master Kirkwood along with A.I.M.A.A Scotland students and Instructors attended this prestigious event in Wishaw on the 7th of February. Master Kirkwood flew in from Ireland that morning after attending the full contact fight night the before in Gorey, to compete in this World Qualifier event.  Some of the National Squad who train with Master Kirkwood attended the event and took an impressive 17 trophies, with 6 of these being Scottish Titles.  To read more on the WKA Scottish Open and see our list of winners CLICK HERE.

A.I.M.A.A Scotland held its first colour belt testing under Master John Kirkwood and Mr James Lawson.

  CHO'S TAEKWONDO EAST KILBRIDE

NOW OPEN & ENROLLING NEW STUDENTS

Master John Kirkwood 6th Degree, opened his new "East Kilbride Cho's Taekwondo School" within the new "Alistair McCoist Sports Complex".

BATTLE OF GOREY 2 FULL CONTACT NIGHT!

The Action International Martial Arts Association had a fantastic night at the "Battle of Gorey" full contact fight night. Our very own Mr John Kirkwood fought in his first ever full contact fight, and was part of the A.I.M.A.A team, which consisted of Hassan Sinanovic, Paul Healy, Monika Markowska, Paul Gallacher and Eric Nolan.
