BLANTYRE CHO'S TAEKWONDO STUDENTS

WIN AT MARK HUTTONS I.T.F OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Master Kirkwood and twelve of his students attended Mr Mark Huttons I.T.F Open Championships on Sunday the 16th of March in Bellahouston Leisure Centre in Glasgow. Instructor Mr Kevin Mc Lear who is one of Mr Kirkwood's Senior student acted as coach on the day to the students attending the event. Master Kirkwood personally thanks Mr Mc Lear for his help and for the positive messages of support he gave to the competitors.

Master Kirkwood was formerly introduced to the I.T.F Instructors, competitors and spectators, as he had known most of the I.T.F Instructors from when they were all part of the TAGB. Mr Hutton told the crowd how ecstatic he was that Master Kirkwood had attended the event.

Master Kirkwood has known Mr Hutton for many years and he is an exemplary Instructor and individual within Tae Kwon Do. He was most honoured to have been invited along with his students to attend the event. The competition was a learning curve for those who participated as it was a different style of Tae Kwon Do and different rules. However Master Kirkwood is proud of all who attended  they won or not, as it was a hard competition for all.

Winners are: Kieran McGinley Silver Sparring, Adam Wilmot Bronze Sparring, Mark Russell Bronze Sparring, Brian Carr Bronze Sparring, Brian Carr Bronze Patterns, Cecila Gough Bronze Sparring, Ryan Kikrwood Silver Sparring. Other squad members who just missed out where: Jack Reid, Billy Reid, Ashley Wilmot, Kirsty Gough, Kara Gough, Jack Denholm.

MASTER KIRKWOOD TRAINS WITH MR FERNANDES

A.I.M.A.A JERSEY HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Picture of Master Darcy, Master Kirkwood, Mr Fernandes pictured with AIMAA Ireland Instructors and Students.

Master Kirkwood recently travelled to Ireland to train with Master Darcy and to meet and train with Mr Robert Fernandes, who is the head of A.I.M.A.A in island of Jersey within the Channel Islands, and the driving force behind the association on the island.

The Black belt training session was hard and many of the top Instructors in Ireland had travelled to train that night under Master Darcy at the European Headquarters, along with Master Darcy's students.  After the nights training Master Darcy, Master Kirkwood and Mr Fernandes accompanied by other students headed for a meal. Mr Fernandes plans to travel to Scotland in May with students to compete in the Nationals, and A.I.M.A.A Scotland and Master Kirkwood look forward to welcoming him and his students to the event and to show them our Scottish hospitality.
