Master Darcy, Master Byrne and Master Kirkwood recently attended the A.I.M.A.A Jersey National Testing. The trip was over five days incorporating the National Testing, Master Darcy's Training Seminar as well as sightseeing for the A.I.M.A.A Ireland and A.I.M.A.A Scotland visitors.

The trip kicked off with the National Testing. Mr Fernandez and students undertook the three hour testing under the watchful eyes of Master Darcy, Master Byrne and Master Kirkwood.  The three hour testing incorporated Floor work, self defence, one-step, free sparring as well as theory and other elements. Mr Fernandez and his students did an exceptional job within their grading.

The next few days saw the group undertake sight seeing on the island, as well as shopping trips. The group of AIMAA Ireland and Scotland where made up of Masters, Instructors, students and family members.  Master Kirkwood attended the trip with Mrs Kirkwood and students Mrs Cecila Gough, Kirsty and Kara Gough. Master Darcy had family members with him including his son John, While Master Byrne also attended with family members. Other Instructors in attendance where Mr Paul Healy with his wife and daughter, and Mr Belgacem and Miss Shaw. Mr Belgacem also has Mrs Sutherland and Miss Sutherland with him.

Members of the group also took to the seas when they undertook jet skiing. Master Darcy and partner Marie, Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood, John Darcy Jnr and Miss Shaw, Miss Kirsty Gough and Tammy Sutherland.

On the Monday the Master Kirkwood, Master Byrne, Mr Fernandez, Mr Healy, attended Master Darcy's Training Seminar accompanied by Master Kirkwoods students, and other AIMAA Jersey students. The seminar incorporated a three hour gruelling session of ground work, exercises, and sparring techniques.

The seminar started off with Master Darcy promoting Mr Fernandez and his partner Monica their next belt. This promotion made Mr Fernandez a 4th Degree, the highest ranking Instructor in AIMAA Jersey. He also presented Mr  Fernandez a presentation on behalf of him and Master Byrne and AIMAA on his exceptional work for AIMAA and AIMAA Jersey.  Master Darcy and Master Byrne then went on to award Master Kirkwood for his promotion to Master and for his support of both Masters and AIMAA. Master Kirkwood was most humbled by this presentation as it was most unexpected, and is a presentation that sits proudly in his study at home.

The last day of the trip was spent visiting more beauty spots on the island and relaxing. The group dinned every night in various restaurants, from Chinese, Italian, Portuguese and local cuisine.  During the five days on the Island Master Kirkwood, Mrs Kirkwood and students managed a day trip to France into a fortress town which was historical and beautiful.

Overall the five days in Jersey was exciting, relaxing and a chance for AIMAA Masters and students to come together in a beautiful place. Recently it was announced that the next summer camp will be in Jersey, and this will be something that should NOT to be missed.
