DAY 5 - CELEBRATION DAY!

This was it, our last day at Trinity College and our last day at Summer Camp 2010! On this most beautiful morning, we would be saying farewell to all our A.I.M.A.A family as we all headed home to various places around the world, looking forward to our next gathering in 2010, in Florida!

Today's classes covered the A.I.M.A.A Curriculum, with each group gathered into belt colour. The children headed out outdoors with senior Instructors, for fun in the sun!

As we all gathered into our designated groups, we where assigned a leading Instructor to take us through the new handbook!

Grandmaster Cho sat proudly at the front of the hall, as his A.I.M.A.A family started to train.

Mr William Power from A.I.M.A.A Ireland, headed the high Black Belt from 2nd Degree upwards.  Miss Kirsty Gough from A.I.M.A.A Scotland taught the Brown Belt students, whilst Mr Brown from the Alabama, USA, taught students from white to Blue belt!

Mr O'Connor from A.I.M.A.A Ireland, taught the Red Belt students and 1st Degree students.

The groups all went through their new A.I.M.A.A curriculum from our newly updated handbook!

The new handbook takes everyone from 1st kup to 9th Degree now, and the information within it is phenomenal! It now contains not only our one-step system, but self defence and much more.

After the morning's curriculum training all the students lined up to take part in the weapons seminar, which was headed by the outstanding Instructors from A.I.M.A.A New Mexico. Mr & Mrs Farrell are phenomenal people as well as Instructors within A.I.M.A.A. Both Instructors are Black belts in the art of Wushu Kung Fu, and are both experts in the Bo staff!

The students all lined up for a fantastic seminar. All the students were provided with staffs to practise with, and everyone had fun taking this class.

As the day came to an end we all lined up to bow out to Grandmaster Cho, Grandmaster Ameris and A.I.M.A.A Masters. It was a very emotional moment, as everyone was rejoicing to another successful camp, but at the same time felt the realisation that the week was finally over.

We all headed out to the sunshine and the awaiting celebration for Grandmaster Cho, which had been set up within a large picnic area, just outside the Trinity hall. On a large table lay two massive cakes, celebrating his forthcoming 70th birthday! Grandmaster Cho thanked everyone and then cut the cake, as we all applauded, it was such a momentous moment for everyone.

Everyone received a large portion of cake, as well as other refreshments as we all stood in the glorious sunshine! Before long, it was time to go and everyone started to hug and kiss everyone farewell.  This was the hard part, as so many people had become friends and nobody wanted to leave! Master Kirkwood and Mrs Kirkwood would like to thank their students and the countless A.I.M.A.A students who made their trip most memorable.

It was wonderful to see everyone support Grandmaster Cho, by attending this event, as it is him who organises this bi-annually for the A.I.M.A.A family, and we know he was pleased with the support he had from everyone.

During our stay in Washington DC. we visited many beautiful parts of the city, that has left a lasting impression not only on us, but our students.  However, our highlight was spending time with our friends Grandmaster Ameris and his family, Master Darcy and Nelia Castro, and lastly Master Michael Fitzgerald and his lovely wife! It was wonderful to spend time with them all and be with Grandmaster Cho as they talked about the old days in Taekwondo! This truly made our holiday special.

A.I.M.A.A. are now preparing the next summer camp, which will be held in Orlando, Florida in 2012. Please start making plans now, and register to attend through your Instructor.  At A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ, we are now preparing another year of major fundraising to help our students attend next summer camp!  Please speak to Mrs Kirkwood to get a registration form, so your name can be added to the fundraising list.
