DAY 2 - GM CHO SEMINAR

Day 2 of the camp and everyone was so excited, as we knew we where undertaking the International seminar with Grandmaster Hee Il Cho. Before the seminar we all lined up to have the official A.I.M.A.A Summer Camp Photographs taken in our uniforms and then in our fantastic A.I.M.A.A t-shirts, depicting the summer camp and an awesome photo of GM Cho on the back!

As soon as the photographs were over it was done to business and quickly we lined up under the commanding voice of Grandmaster Cho.

The seminar kicked off with a warm up, then we quickly went onto line work and combinations. We undertook various exercises, one-step and spent time breaking down all our technical moves!

As the seminar progressed the training did also, as our combinations incorporated spinning kicks and various kicking and blocking routines.

It was an intense 2 hours that had everyone shattered, but wanting more!

Grandmaster Ameris, Master Darcy, Master Kirkwood, and Master Fitzgerald bounded with power and speed to Grandmasters bellowing commands, as did every individual in the hall.

The A.I.M.A.A Masters were inspirational to watch,  as each of them are in their late 40's and early 50's, and yet looked like a bunch of teenagers on the floor!  The inspiration from the A.I.M.A.A Grandmasters and Masters inspired all those in that hall that day, as each one of us tried to emulate and honour their teaching's by giving more than 110% in every move we made!

It is truly unbelievable to look and Grandmaster Cho and realise that he is nearing 70 yrs old. He bounds about like a young man, powerful and speedy and not succumbing to fatigue, like most of us! It was truly an honour for everyone to train with Grandmaster Cho, as it was for all those watching the seminar.

At the end of the seminar he gathered us all to the front of the hall and spoke many words of wisdom to us about training and pushing ourselves! Grandmaster Ameris also addressed the class and thanked everyone for being there and also thanked Grandmaster Cho for hosting another fantastic summer camp.

As the seminar came to a close we had a 15 minute break before everyone split into different groups to train with many International Instructors.

The International Instructors took individual groups to go through a traditional patterns within their belt curriculum! Each group worked away perfecting their chosen pattern under the direction of their Instructor.  Mrs Denise Farrell had high grade junior students, whilst Mr Phiilip Ameris had the AIMAA Panthers and lower grade students! Mr Power took classes with 3rd Degree Black Belts upwards, whilst Mr O'Connor took lower grade Black Belts. Mrs Ameris had the Red belt group and Mr Farrell took all the other lower grades!

These Instructors took their time breaking down their chosen pattern to all those they where teaching! It was inspirational to watch each group work away, and after an hour they where all called to the front table in front of Grandmaster Cho, Grandmaster Ameris, Master Darcy and Master Kirkwood to perform their group pattern, in small and informal competition!

The children loved every minute of their performance to their waiting audience, and the little panthers where delightful to watch as they took their time counting as they made each move!  As we went through each group and each belt ranking we found ourselves watching the larger Black Belt groups, who performed with synchronisation, power, and perfection! It was a wonderful day at summer camp, that morning, and as we all headed home for some lunch and to head out for some sightseeing, all of us where already thinking about the next day and what it would bring!
