Welcome to the official A.I.M.A.A Scotland Website.

A.I.M.A.A Scotland Headquarters is headed by Master John Kirkwood 6th Degree, who teaches there every week. All instruction in A.I.M.A.A Scotland schools are undertaken by A.I.M.A.A certified Instructors, who are fully vetted by Disclosure Scotland.  At Master Kirkwood's Cho's Tae Kwon Do school you will be taught the traditional aspects of Tae kwon Do, A.I.M.A.A Curriculum, Self defence, Competition sparring  and One-Step by Master Kirkwood personally.

Master John Kirkwood has been involved within Tae-Kwon-Do for over 35 years and has taught for over 30 years within Lanarkshire. He personally teaches students at the A.I.M.A.A Scotland Headquarters school which is located within Blantyre Sports Centre.  He also teaches alongside his son John Kirkwood at his Cho's TKD School in Lesmahagow.

He teaches specialised courses in self defence, point and continuous sparring, as well as body conditioning and plyometrics. As well as running additional squad training and A.I.M.A.A Curriculum classes for students within Scotland. Over the last decade he has went on to produce many Black belts, some having went onto to becoming Instructors in their own right. Many of the students that train within Master Kirkwood's school have obtained World, European and National Titles, through his competition training regime.

As the appointed director of A.I.M.A.A Scotland he endeavours to ensure that Grandmaster Cho's teachings and philosophies are engraved into the minds of the Instructors and students in Scotland. To read more on Master Kirkwood Click Here.....

A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND WIN AT THE WKA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Master Kirkwood along with A.I.M.A.A Scotland students and Instructors attended this prestigious event in Wishaw on the 7th of February. Master Kirkwood flew in from Ireland that morning after attending the full contact fight night the before in Gorey, to compete in this World Qualifier event.  Some of the National Squad who train with Master Kirkwood attended the event and took an impressive 17 trophies, with 6 of these being Scottish Titles. BATTLE OF GOREY 2 FULL CONTACT NIGHT!

The Action International Martial Arts Association had a fantastic night at the "Battle of Gorey" full contact fight night. Our very own Mr John Kirkwood fought in his first ever full contact fight, and was part of the A.I.M.A.A team, which consisted of Hassan Sinanovic, Paul Healy, Monika Markowska, Paul Gallacher and Eric Nolan.

Well done to Mr Jimmy Courtney and Miss Quintella Walsh for an outstanding event! Video and a report will appear here shortly, so please check back....

Master Kirkwood recently gave an interview to Mr. Belgacem of "Chostkd Hamilton and Larkahll", on what's been happening in A.I.M.A.A Scotland, and his journey through Taekwondo.

  CHO'S TAEKWONDO EAST KILBRIDE

NOW OPEN & ENROLLING NEW STUDENTS

Master John Kirkwood 6th Degree, opened his new "East Kilbride Cho's Taekwondo School" within the new "Alistair McCoist Sports Complex".

A.I.M.A.A IN FOCUS - MR JOHN KIRKWOOD - SCOTLAND

This month we profile our very own Mr John Kirkwood Jnr, of A.I.M.A.A Scotland. Mr Kirkwood has trained in the martial arts for 21 years now at his fathers side, Master John Kirkwood who is the Director of A.I.M.A.A Scotland.

As a predominant figure in A.I.M.A.A Scotland and within the martial art circuit, he is a figure to watch in competitions and currently holds over 250 titles to his name! Currently Mr Kirkwood runs his own Cho's Taekwondo School in Lesmahagow,  and spends most of his time with his family and training.

A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND COLOUR BELT TESTING FEB 2010

A.I.M.A.A Scotland first testing of 2010, will be held on the following dates within A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ, Blantyre.

Saturday 13th Feb - High Grade Testing 2pm to 7pm

Sunday 14th Feb - Low Grade Testing 10am to 2pm

Please check with your Instructor if you are testing and to obtain a testing from. All enquires regarding this testing must be directed to your Instructor.

MASTER KIRKWOOD'S AIMAA SCOTLAND AWARDS 2009

A.I.M.A.A Scotland Headquarters will be holding its annual "Student Awards" on the 27th February 2010. This event brings together the best of the students from Blantyre and Lesmahagow Cho's TKD Schools, as well as the AIMAA Panthers from both areas! 

Master Darcy will be in attendance at this event, as well as International Instructors from Ireland, who are appearing in the demonstration. It will be an exciting night for all attendees and we look forward to welcoming everyone on the night!

Students attending the Irish Open please see Master & Mrs Kirkwood as soon as possible! All enrolments need to be undertaken as an school/association. Deadline is the 20th February to register your divisions, weight and other details with A.I.M.A.A Scotland. Copies of all divisions are available in class for you to go over! Event runs from 5th - 8th March.

A.I.M.A.A SCOTLAND INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first Interclub Championships will take place on Sunday the 14th of March 2010 in Blantyre Sports Centre. 

As usual this event brings together all our A.I.M.A.A Scotland schools for a day of fun and competition! Students can download their entry forms here and hand them to their Instructor or obtain a form from their Instructor within class!

 MASTER PHILLIP AMERIS - FEB 2010

Master Phillip Ameris, who is the A.I.M.A.A Technical Director and Senior student of Grandmaster Hee Il Cho, has written an excellent piece on street self defence that will appear in the February issue!  A.I.M.A.A Scotland HQ should receive their February consignment in the next few weeks. As these magazines sell fast we advise students to book their copy now!!

A.I.M.A.A PANTHER CLASSES

This pre-school program is designed for children aged between 3 and 5 years old. These classes have a special curriculum that will be fun and meets the needs of these youngsters.

The children in the "Little Panther" programme will learn key character development skills to prepare them for their school years.

A.I.M.A.A EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

2ND MAY 2010

On the 2nd of May 2010 we will be holding the 1st European Championships, here in Scotland. This event is a pre-registered event, and is Invitational. We have had a huge response to this event and other associations have already registered their intention to attend, which will make it a truly European event!

If you are interested in attending and require an info pack please contact A.I.M.A.A HQ. More details will be posted nearer the time.

A.I.M.A.A SUMMER CAMP - WASHINGTON DC USA

If interested in joining us for the action in Washington D.C then contact Mrs Kirkwood ASAP! A large group of students have now confirmed their attendance at this fantastic event! There will be Seminars with GM Cho, Master Ameris, Master Darcy, Master Kirkwood and Master Byrne, not to mention classes and workshops with International Instructors.

A.I.M.A.A - FULL CONTACT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are proud to announce that Master John Darcy and Mr Paul Healy will be holding the first A.I.M.A.A Full Contact World Championships in Ireland.

This event will only be open to A.I.M.A.A members, and will be under K1 rules. We are awaiting date confirmation of this event, and look forward to supporting and attending this event in Ireland.
